BALLARD SHORT SELECTED FOR “SILENT MOVIE MONDAYS” AT THE PARAMOUNT
Franklin’s Monster, a short film with no dialogue by Peter Brown, Casey Chamberlain, Evan Fekete & Ruth Payne of Ballard’s Digital Filmmaking Program, will be presented at the Paramount Theater this Monday, May 6th at 7 pm. The film will be part of Silent Movie Mondays, a series of great silent films presented by the Seattle Theater Group (STG). The short will be screened before A Man There Was, a Swedish feature based on an epic poem by Henrik Ibsen. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors and can be purchased here.
Films began as a silent medium, and filmmakers developed sophisticated strategies to show stories with the camera rather than tell them with sound. Students in Ballard’s Digital Filmmaking Program learn these strategies to create visual stories such as Franklin’s Monster before adding sound to their films.
