Everyone is invited to a screening of new work by students in the Ballard High School Digital Filmmaking Program. The Ballard Film Festival (BFF) will be on Saturday, June 17 at 7:30 pm in the Ballard High School auditorium. The screening will feature short comedies and dramas, news features, advertisements, and the documentaries students produced for IMAX. Tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for students) will be sold at the door.
Films that first premiere at the BFF routinely win honors from prestigious national and international film festivals, the National YoungArts Foundation and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Funds raised will benefit students in the Digital Filmmaking Program.

Transformative was also an Official Selection at CineYouth early this month. The annual event is a project of the Chicago International Film Festival. The showcase celebrates outstanding short films made by filmmakers 22 years old and younger from around the world. A short documentary, Transformative examines the experience of a transgender teen and our current political climate. Heart of Gold, by Miles Andersen, Josh Gaynor-Cote, Willow Hudson and Jesse Romero, will screen in the Seattle International Film Festival’s FutureWave showcase on Monday, May 29 at the Uptown Theater at 1:30 pm. FutureWave strives to show the best short films in the world by youth 18 years old and younger. (Click here to purchase tickets!) Heart of Gold follows a student through her final year of high school - a year complicated by a life-threatening medical condition, a stroke, and a heart transplant.
Both films are currently available on the DFP vimeo site. (Just click on the title to screenTransformative or Heart of Gold.)
